Lay down for art
Beware! The AGS requires special manoeuvres when installing shows. "Igneous Corpus", an exhibition with Kathy Browning (Nick's wife), will be exhibited until March 2.
hey Linda rocky? is that you? it might be an idea for everyone to reveal their pseudonym, I am always trying to figure that out.
I am amazed at how close to my inquiry experiments with stone your work in this post comes.
I am pasting a bit of explanation from a statement about one of my grid based stone pieces so you can get a feel for what I mean.Let me know if it resonates.
"All the Surfaces and Rapture projects begin with "embodied drawing" of natural stone in the 'haptic' space between the hand and the body. These 1.5 " x 3" detailed explorations of my intimate address to a tiny portion of an exposed rock face are used as a specific resource for a labouriously improvised set of paint touches by brush on mahogany doorskins. In "Stone Poetry" the doorskin has been cut into 60 sections, creating panels for two poems of thirty words each. In the mid 17th c poems were sometimes constructed like checkerboards and could be read in all directions with any combination of words. This conceit suits me and I have made two 'haptic' poems, one of 'hand words' and one of 'finger words'."
